WEEKEND WONDERS: I AM AN ILLUSTRATOR

riccardo_2

Hello everybody, please meet Mr. Riccardo Guasco.

Hailing from Alessandria, a small town in Italy, Mr. Guasco is an (amazing) illustrator which I first stumbled upon browsing Pinterest. I love his work, and I love the way his colours, lines and ideas come together to give his illustrations and paintings so much meaning.

Here are just some of his artworks. For more, there’s always a riccardoguasco.com to go to!(: Also, here’s a Q+A with the illustrator himself, by Pushing Pixels, and if you follow arts on Behance, here’s Mr. Guasco on it too. Go ahead and enjoy his amazing pieces!

On a separate note, it’s been so long since I did a weekend post. I must have you know how much I missed writing, especially signing off the weekends with a handful of gems for your reading and listening pleasure.

I am back!

So, cheers to the weekend ahead and three more cheers for my first Weekend post in 2015.

INSTANT: AUGUST

instant august

They say that being busy is a good thing. That means that there’s work to be done, because having work means getting paid. Yeaaaaa, I suppose you could see it that way. I’ve been busy. So busy my writing (and reading) has taken a MAJOR backseat.

It’s now almost the end of September, and I’m only running an update on August. Lol So.over.due.

Well, August has been a really good month. So much happened for me just within that month. For one, I got my dive certification. Then there was the awesome trip to Singapore to hang with the cousins. And then my fitness training took off and my ass is slowly coming back in shape, and my muscles, slightly more visible (I lost 12kgs beginning this year, and with that, my ass too. If you’re wondering. Lol) Then there was London, and Rome, spilling into September.

Also, I’m incredibly glad that my Nook is happening for me. FINALLY. I’ve been having major problems purchasing books for my Nook out of the States. It sucked real bad, and I was so close to ditching it, but then Kobo books happened.(:

So yes, dearest Kobo books. If you are reading this… THANK. YOU. SO. MUCH. You saved me my last strand of sanity, from wanting to hammer the daylights out of my Nook.

August in a word – AMAZEBALLS. And p.s., September has been pretty neat too. So I’m really, really grateful for every single thing.

INSTANT: JULY

instant july

July, July.

I thank God for this beautiful month, really. It was a crazy busy one with many, many shoots and the inevitable preparation works that come with it, my dive lessons, rock climbing sessions, burger-noming dinner date – all in amazing company, and a very, very good long weekend in a quiet glass box hideout followed by a whacked out Singapore trip with the cousins.

To a good month ahead and more great accomplishments before yet another month goes by…CHEERS!:D Have a great August everybody! xx

WEEKEND WONDERS: LOVE AND EVERYTHING ELSE

marmaladebleue_13

Just a random update – William and I caught How To Train Your Dragon 2 just yesterday. And I cried, and cried, and cried. I can’t wait to get my hands on a stuffed toy version of Toothless!:B

Anyway, sorry the weekend post got delayed this week! Been so caught up with closing a job for a client all the way in Jakarta, meetings after meetings, photo shoots, and trying to keep to my study schedule in hopes of completing five chapters of the dive manual before my first class in July. Doesn’t sound like much but trust me, it is crazy.

Here’s sharing a handful of things to perhaps, kickstart your week and inspire you on exploring your creativity, buy a new car (Tesla rocks!), try a new dish, update your photo styles, or just an insightful read to understand how collaboration might not always work.

If only New York wasn’t so far away.Love.

WEEKEND WONDERS: A PUFF OF SOMETHING

1065306208

Some days, I do wonder what it’s like to walk around with a cloud of my own.
And today is just one of those days.
Much like this picture, I feel like my insides are all weathered down, empty, ugly and disfigured.
And all I want is a puff of something to keep me company.

It’s been a tough week. A real tough week. But I’m praying that it gets better.

I hope you lovelies are enjoying your weekend though.(: xo

An interesting art installation and it’s story.

Nimbus. Love.

I’d love to have some ice cream, please!

A very interesting place I’d love to see.

This would right any horrid day. Yums!

Here’s one for the graphic designers.:D

WEEKEND WONDERS: E-G-G

eggs

So I attempted to poach an egg last Saturday. Did I mention that I wasted two eggs in that whole hour’s attempt? Sigh. It was so embarassing. I ate that two eggs in the ugly state I caused them to be in, and then boiled the third perfectly and served it.

How do people make poaching eggs look like reciting the ABCs? I remember the first time I poached an egg, and I’d have you know I got it right then – close to five years ago. I was in college, and my campus was home to the Mass Communication (that’s me), Architecture, Hospitality and Tourism, and Culinary Arts faculty, and our library was a cook’s heaven. Cookbooks, technique books, recipe books, food styling books – all of them. Yup! And it was then that I picked up one of those technique books, and successfully nailed Chapter 3: How To Poach An Egg.

I will master the art of poaching an egg, soon. And you can expect an entry devoted to that success. Haha! On the topic of eggs, I came across Food52‘s eggy article, which is a great read for cooks, or egg-lovers alike, so here’s sharing it!

Take the weekend slow, or fast, whichever way you’d like to roll, but have an amazing one either way, my dear friends.(: I’m going to steal forty winks, get dressed and head out for dinner at the much raved about Awesome Canteen. Toodles!

WEEKEND WONDERS: EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT

tempt

I’ve been itching to cook of late.

Okay, well. In all honesty, I’ve been itching to do a lot of things of late – run, cook, bake, sign up for that magazine subscription, tell off a friend, buy an oven, house hunt, go for a massage, have more oysters, book a scrub down, learn photography, have my own grocer, day-trip to Singapore, to name a few.

But let’s focus on the cooking part of it all for today. So I’ve been checking out some (easier, a lot less tedious) recipes to (hopefully) start with, one of the weekends. Let me tempt you with this, this and this for now, all as pictured!

My runners have seen daylight, so I’m doing pretty okay I suppose. Haha! (Let the cooking and eating begin!)

I foresee a crazy week ahead. But for now, I’m going to kick back, write, sip on tea while it pours outside and love my weekend and everything about it. And I hope you would too lovelies! Cheers.(:

Love the quirk, love the colours, love everything about this.:D

A good workout deserves a good dessert after!

Say cheeeeeese! WANT.

Interesting. A real Zombie Apocalypse plan A.

My latest read. Some good shit, really.

An amazing project – A Century of Spying.

WEEKEND WONDERS: THE B-WORD

brunch

Cheers to a good ol’ Saturday.

So William and I decided to grab bagels for brunch. The last time I had a bagel was when I was in New York, and to have a cosy bagel stop serve up fresh-baked bagels in New York style just 10 minutes away? It goes without saying that our Saturday brunch just keeps getting better.(:

I had a Lox bagelwich- read: lots of smoked salmon, heavenly cream cheese and sprinkles of spring onion and capers crammed into a hearty poppy seed-topped bagel. William had a Philly Cheese Steak bagelwich with beef strips and the works, and we shared a tomato puree soup and a petite serving of green salad tossed in balsamic. Yums!

On a separate note, I GOT MYSELF A NEW PAIR OF RUNNERS! It’s time to go running again, and hopefully the rain holds up for that in the evening. Did I mention that my pair of Reeboks (that were barely a year old) were stolen right off my front porch? Yup. Sucks.

But anyway, the weekend’s looking good for me. And I hope it is looking just as awesome for all you people too.(:

Birds in so many forms.

For when the Mama Bear in you appears, you’re not alone.

WEEKEND WONDERS: ILLUSTRATE, PLEASE

illustrate

Just about a week ago, I decided to join the creative community, Behance. The amount of amazing stuff in there is Crazy. Crazy with a capital C. I will never stop being incredibly in awe and impressed by all the beautiful, beautiful work that people around the world have created, and are creating. I wish I had just a teeny tiny bit of their talent, really.

A big fan of illustrations, I handpicked a handful of those I love and thought I’d share it with you people, right here. If you aren’t a Behance member yet, you should be. Especially if you’re in the field and need some ideas and inspirations!

Here’s also a quick reminder that Mom’s Day is next week!(: So it’s time to whip up a feast for the Queen of your heart, or give her that long-distance phone call you’ve been missing, or treat her to a massage, or make her that card…or anything at all. As for me, my parents (Mom + Dad’s Day combined) are in a massage as I write this, as a treat from me. And then we’re off to a hearty lunch!

So, get crackin’ on ways to show Mommy + Daddy the extra loooooove. Happy weekend friends!

taxidermy artist.
p.s.: I’ve always been very intrigued by taxidermy. And this video is pretty cool, sans the gore I was expecting. Lol

A very creative piece by luxury label Hermes.

Something we can all probably relate to – CONSTIPATION. Haha!

An impressive illustration of how deep the Ocean Shield goes.
p.s.: Ever since the disappearance of flight MH 370, I’ve been reading up the Ocean Shield and it’s amazing use. Impressive.

Forget Disneyland. How about Doomsday Disney?

Too cute! Cross-stitched goodness (or badness)? Haha.(:

INSTANT: APRIL

instant april

Dear God, April’s been good. Thank You.

So, April marked the beginning of new things in my life – new people, new workspace, new experiences, and above all, a new happiness. I find myself feeling beyond blessed at times like this, really.(:

April also marked the end of my friend’s hospital stay of over a month due to a bike accident. And I can’t thank God enough for keeping him alive and well through out his rehabilitation, as he battled a broken arm, fractured ribs and a lacerated liver. Today, he stands well and healthy, resting up to prepare him for the arm surgery he will undergo in a week’s time. To all who knew him, and to those who didn’t know him but read about him through my post and prayed for him anyway, thank you so, so much!

And now comes May, which, similar to every other month, I pray would be merciful and fruitful. I hope that May takes me places – mentally, spiritually and physically. I hope that May inspires me to do more, laugh more and see only the best in people and situations. And it’s my greatest hop that May does all that and more for you too, my friends.

Have an amazing May, as we countdown oh-too-soon to the mid of year 2014! Cheers!
